HISTORY
In the early and middle 1900's Petite Sirah, aka Petty Sarah, Pets and Petite was a grape of small or secondary importance. In 2006 the past and present came together serendipitously. Soon after my first foray with Pets, a local grower/producer told me about my great Uncle Martin Zucco making Petite Sirah in the Bardessono Barn in Yountville. This is my contribution to our family history, crafted specifically for the Bardessono cento anni.
TASTING NOTES
The 2023 Petite Sirah from the Stags Leap District exhibits an elegant and aromatic nose, with intense dark fruit aromas with a hint of floral notes. Contributing to this wines allure are scents of blackberry, plumb with hints of pepper, vanilla and spice. On the pallet are flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, vanilla, light char and full but elegant tannins.
Made with 50% new barrels and 50% once used barrels of the highest quality. This wine will age well for 10 years or more. Tom Bardessono
